Sport

  • The Faculty offers facilities for badminton, basketball, football, gymnastics, table tennis, and volleyball. Sport classes are free, but registration to the classes is necessary.
  • Furthermore you can find several sport and fitness facilities in Budapest.
  • Running:
    • There is a more than 5 km long running track (covered with soft rubber to dampen vibration to the knee) in Margitsziget (Margaret Island). This is one of the most popular jogging track in Budapest from early spring till late autumn. The island is accessible by bus 26 (Margitsziget/Margit híd stop) or by tram 4, 6 (Margitsziget stop).
    • Another nice place for running is Városliget (City Park) with a more than 3 km long jogging track. The easiest way to get there is to take metro M1 (Széchenyi fürdő stop).
  • Fitness Centres:
    • You can find a fitness centre in most of the shopping centres.
    • The closest Fitness Centre to our Faculty is Power Fitness at  1082 Budapest, Szigony u. 13.
      Power Fitness offers a 50% discount for PPCU students and staff
  • Swimming Pools:
    • The city's two most popular swimming centres are the Alfréd Hajós Swimming Pool and the Császár-Komjádi Swimming Pool with indoor and outdoor pools.
      • Hajós Alfréd National Swimming Pool:
        • Address: Margitsziget, accessible by bus 26 (the closest stop is 1 minute from the main entrance) or by tram 4, 6 Margitsziget stop (8-10 minutes' walk)
        • Open: weekdays usually: 6.00-15.50, weekends: 6.00-17.50
        • Prices: adult: 1 800 HUF, students, pensioners: 1 100 HUF
      • Császár-Komjádi Swimming Pool:
        • Address: Árpád fejedelem útja 8. district II., accessible by tram 4, 6 Margit híd Budai hídfő (Margaret Bridge Buda bridgehead) stop (5-10 minutes' walk), or by bus 160 and 260 from Batthyány Square (M2 metro station)
        • Open: usually every day: 6.00 -19.00 (cashier closes at 18.00) – use of pools depends on trainings of professional swimmers
        • Tickets: adult: 1 800 HUF, students, pensioners: 1 100 HUF

    • In the wintertime probably the best option to do some sport in the city is ice-skating. Budapest has a large open-air ice rink at Városliget (City Park), the City Park Ice Rink, which is open from mid-October till the end of February.
