International Collaboration Launched to Research Ethical Questions of AI

2025.10.08.

Pázmány Péter Catholic University and The Catholic University of America (Washington, DC) have established a new consortium to explore the ethical implications of artificial intelligence (AI), supported by a $1 million Hungarian government grant.

The consortium's research will be guided by the principles set out by Pope Leo XIII, focusing on the societal and ethical challenges posed by the rapid advancement of AI technologies. This collaboration aims to promote responsible AI development and application, ensuring that technological progress aligns with human dignity and the common good.

During his visit to Washington, Hungarian Minister of Culture and Innovation, Balázs Hankó, emphasized the importance of international academic partnerships. He presented the consortium's objectives to CUA leadership and highlighted Hungary's commitment to advancing AI research and education.

This initiative reflects a growing global recognition of the need for ethical frameworks in AI development, bridging Hungarian and American academic expertise to address these critical issues.
