From September 8 to 11, Glasgow, Scotland, hosted the 36th Annual Conference and Exhibition of the European Association for International Education (EAIE). The event took place at the Scottish Event Campus (SEC), with this year’s theme, “The Rhythm of Revolution,” calling on higher education professionals to challenge established practices and collectively rethink the future of the sector.
The numbers speak for themselves: more than 7,300 international education professionals from over 100 countries came together for four memorable days of learning, networking and professional exchange.
New Connections with Leading European Technical Universities
One of the greatest strengths of the conference is the opportunity for personal encounters: in just a few days, it is possible to meet and discuss potential cooperation with as many partners as would otherwise take months to reach.
During the conference, our Faculty’s international relations officer established connections with new institutions whose profiles align well with ITK’s programmes in engineering, information technology and bionics. The dialogue initiated in Glasgow could pave the way for student and staff mobility agreements, as well as joint educational or research projects in the future.
Catholic Universities from Latin America
Our University’s Catholic identity opens up additional opportunities on the international stage. At the exhibition, we held discussions with representatives of Catholic universities from Argentina and Mexico about potential areas of cooperation.
Building connections with Catholic institutions in Latin America is a particularly promising direction: based on shared values while extending beyond Europe, these partnerships could offer new perspectives and opportunities for both our students and colleagues.
Expanding Existing Partnerships
In addition to establishing new connections, strengthening existing partnerships was another important objective of our participation. With several long-standing key partners, we discussed expanding our existing Erasmus+ agreements, including increasing mobility quotas and involving additional academic fields.
At the Study in Hungary Stand
Throughout the four-day event, the Faculty was represented at the Study in Hungary stand, where Hungarian higher education institutions presented themselves collectively to an international audience.
This joint presence provided an excellent opportunity to showcase Pázmány ITK’s academic programmes – from information technology to molecular bionics engineering – to universities and higher education professionals from around the world. It also helped strengthen professional cooperation among Hungarian higher education institutions.
The connections and experiences gained in Glasgow will serve as an important foundation for the Faculty’s international activities in the coming academic years. Pázmány ITK remains committed to actively contributing to dialogue within the international higher education community and to further developing its global partnerships.
