The goal of the course is to give an introduction to the structure of computers and its main building blocks. The course covers the following topics: Combinational circuit, sequential circuits; Number representation, error detection; Digital circuits, operator circuits (Add., sub., Mul., div.); Instruction execution, addressing techniques; RISC, CISC processors; Control units (Programmable devices and interconnections, Microcode controller); I/O Operations, synchronous, asynchronous protocols; Bus (PCI, PCI-x, SCSI); Memory (DRAM, SRAM, etc., Virtual memory, Cache memory).
